Relax, skaters and kids. Rob Zombie doesn’t hate you. Really. Sadly, reports to the contrary have been blown out of proportion, as the singer’s wife Sheri Moon Zombie petitioned the town of Woodbury, Conn., where they reside, to move a skate park next to their property due to the noise pollution that it creates. Rock ‘n’ roll ain’t noise pollution but skateboard wheels apparently are, and that led to rumors of skate hate.
Zombie’s wife reportedly aired her grievances at the town budget meeting, saying (according to Blabbermouth), “I was wondering if we could designate some of the reserve to move the skateboard park that was put adjacent to my property which is proved to be a significant noise pollutant and has reduced the quality of life for me and my two other neighbors that it affects.”
The town has attempted to quell the noise, like reducing the hours of operation and closing it on Sundays, but Mrs. Zombie feels that’s simply not satisfactory.
“I know they’re trying to improve the obnoxious noise with the wood on the side of the ramps, and that did nothing,” she argued. “I know they have ordered sound fabric. I think this is just a Band-Aid. The skateboard park should not have been put there.”
“It seems nuts to even have to address this, but I guess I will,” the rocker wrote. “Some really crazy articles have popped up making claims about ‘hating skaters’ and ‘hating children.’ None of this is true and it makes me sick that someone would print such lies. There is a simple matter going on in which we are trying to find a solution that will make EVERYBODY happy. Unfortunately, someone decided to turn it into a whole ugly event. What a bummer.”
The couple has resided at the property since 2009, a whole four years prior to the park opening in March 2013. The skatepark is new; a regular park has been there for years. The town is trying to make both sides happy and said that it is a park where multiple types of recreation take place.
